Natural hair and skincare tips

Janet Redwine, a master stylist in Denver Colorado, has created this page for people to learn about the current and future state of not only black hair, but everyone's hair. This is the first article of many that will be written for open discussion.

 Article #1

Natural hair vs. Chemically Treated hair

In most situations natural hair is better to wear than chemically treated hair. This is mainly true for people that have looked at all aspects or choices available for their hair. Natural hair will not change its condition when one perspires opposed to one that may wear a relaxer. When hair gets moist, like from sweat, many natural styles lose their shape if the client temporarily straightens their hair with a blowdryer, straightening comb or flat iron.

Hair that's chemically treated, even if the chemical is applied properly, is not healthy for your hair in the long-run because a residue develops on the scalp and gradually damages the roots of the hair follicles.
